Prints sale, 10% off!

PrincessCottongrasdetail
Detail from “Princess Cottongrass and Leap the Elk”

Greetings all,

I’m currently having a 10% off sale on prints over at my Etsy shop. I have my first solo exhibition over at the Grant Bradley Gallery at the start of October, and I need a bit of extra cash for framing, transportation etc, so I thought it would be a nice thing to do to thank people for helping out. If there is a picture on my site that you would like a print of but isn’t in my etsy shop let me know and I can get one made for you. The sale will continue until the end of September, so check it out here!

In other news, the piece I am currently auctioning on ebay to raise funds to help the people fighting the badger cull is on £56 with 3 days left, which is great news!

Sulis Minerva

Sulis Minerva is the goddess of Bath Spring. The Celts worshipped Sulis at the spring, and when the Romans invaded they combined her with their own goddess of healing Minerva. They built a huge complex around the natural spring to honour the goddess and take advantage of the healing waters.

This piece is entirely needle felted and will be displayed in a huge vintage glass jar.

Moonling

Moonling is an old English word meaning “simpleton”, similar to Lunatic, as the moon is said to cause madness. It is the place of dreams and visions, enlightenment and illusion. It is also the first stop on the way from Earth. Sometimes the pull is strong

This piece is 20x20x5cm, it is entirely needle felted and mounted in a wooden box.

(Also shown – the wonderful quality of the camera on my new fancy phone. I will however be replacing it with a better picture once I get my proper camera sorted)

The Hermit

I thought I’d write about one of the pieces you may have seen in my gallery on here, Merlin, or The Hermit. He is the first full body doll I’ve made and stands at about a foot tall and is entirely needle felted. He was inspired by the Hermit from the tarot deck. Rather than being simply one who hides away as he is often seen, the Hermit is the sage who stands on the mountain top with the lamp of enlightenment on his staff, showing the way for others. He is Yod, the open hand, giving people the opportunity to find knowledge. He is also Virgo, and, this being my sun sign, I feel a strong affinity to him, which is why I chose to make him as my first doll.
